I have used exped pads for years for base camping but never considered them light enough for backpacking.
Exped downmat 7 m review.
The downmat 7 is the mat for all seasons.
Exped went above and beyond to help me out when my mat failed.
The integrated pump makes inflation swift and simple.
I purchased the exped pad about a year ago after spending 2 cold nights on my big agnes.
The built in pump is pretty convenient but takes a while to inflate.
The exped downmat 7 is an incredible sleeping mat when it works developed by an exceptional company with some of the best customer service people i have ever had the pleasure of doing interacting with.
It s also pretty difficult to fully inflate the pad because at a certain point the pump will be below the inflated part and it becomes difficult to depress.
Because nothing compresses better than down it packs extremely small and tight.
The downmat weights 35 7 oz 15 oz more than the second warmest pad in our review the rei co op flash all season insulated air.
In size m the downmat 7 is 845g while its stripped back offspring tips the scales at just 587g my weight.
It also has an internal pump which is a nifty feature though most testers found it unnecessary.
The downmat 7 is a great backpacking pad that is pretty comfortable and keeps you warm.
Then off i went to my local rei to go lay on them.
There were pluses and minuses to each.
If you re pulling a sled or maybe you ve got dogs to pull a sled or llamas mules or some other beast of burden to carry this pad for you weight and packed size is less of an issue.
This down filled airmat is amazingly comfortable and warmer and lighter than any comparable mat.
The difference is largely down to the materials.
Exped downmat ul 7 m klymit cush.
The exped synmat 7 is an insulated air construction sleeping pad that is quite comfortable.
Through online research i whittled my candidates down to the exped downmat 7 and the therm a rest prolite 4 women s.
This was one of our favorite pads to sleep on and gave us many good nights of sleep.
The phone call came several weeks later and my exped downmat 7 had finally arrived in the store for pickup the second piece of good news was to find out it was on sale for 139 99 as opposed to the listed 169 95 it s now 199 95 the reasoning for my decision was quite simple the exped downmat 7 seems like a better product.
Exped downmat ul 7.
The downmat 7 was 139 includes stuff sack pump.
After 1 5 hours in the store i still couldn t decide.
Top quality down insulation.
The original mixes 150d and 75d fabrics while the ul series uses a much thinner 20d top and bottom.
The exped synmat ul 7 is all of these things.
Exceptionally warm comfortable and compact.
The ground then acts somewhat like a heatsink for a great deal of the heat given off by your body whilst you sleep.
Add another 80g for the stuff sack and pump bag.
