Tempted by a driving iron.
Driving iron vs hybrid vs 5 wood.
Think a 5 wood would be similar length to my 3 wood and i ve been hit and miss with hybrids in the past.
Adding additional fairway woods is not feasible as they are harder to hit and a 5 wood will go about the same distance as a 3 hybrid.
Strong hybrid i don t know if this is even a proper term but it will suffice a hybrid of 18 degrees or less.
The 4 hybrid supports a faster swing and clubhead speed than a 5 iron club.
The 5 wood has a longer shaft than a 2 iron that helps it to deliver shots that cover a longer range of distance.
Trajectory differences per club used as we look at the heights of the three clubs you can easily see how the 3 iron was the flattest white lines the hybrid was in the middle yellow lines and the 5 wood was the highest purple lines.
Could potentially replace a long iron.
I found myself in the same situation last year.
Compared to a 3 wood compared to a hybrid a 5 wood has a larger club head which may cause some frustration when first learning to make solid contact hitting out of the fairway.
Numerous efforts to use a 5 wood failed relative to the hybrids.
Your 13 5 degree fairway wood clubhead when cranked down to 12 5 or so will have to be opened in order to be de lofted making it more likely to produce fades and slices.
7 wood not commonly used today.
Jack uses a 21 hyhrid along with an 18 driving iron.
His accuracy with even a 17 hybrid exceeds the 5 woods he has tried.
Hybrids have made approach shots much easier than before their development.
Hybrid 19 degrees of loft.
Used to replace long irons.
I love the feel and shot shaping ability of both especially a low stinger with the 2 iron through the wind.
The 5 wood is a good choice for playing during normal weather conditions whereas a 2 iron does a good job on a windy day.
A 5 wood is generally 19 24 degrees in loft and is a higher lofted fairway wood.
Rather than carrying clubs like 4 5 and even 6 irons replacing these clubs with hybrids leads to more consistent contact.
5 wood almost identical to a 3 wood but with more loft.
I ditched my 5 wood and 4 hybrid and bought a tmb 3 iron with a steel shaft and a tmb 2 iron with a graphite shaft.
In short don t carry clubs that you can t confidently hit.
Capable of replacing a 3 wood.
Not sure what to go for.
Almost identical to 5 wood but with more loft.
Seen the mizuno jpx fli hi which is a 3 iron 19 deg replacement with hybrid head and steel shaft.
Have a space in the bag between my 15 5 degree 3 wood and 4 iron 22 deg.
